How We Disciple Through Missions

A week on the mission field can leave a mark that lasts a lifetime. This is the GO Serve Discipleship Roadmap, from our first conversation with you to your student’s reentry after the trip.

Where the road leads

“Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.”

Colossians 1:28
  1. Step 1

Truly Getting to Know Your Team

    Discipleship can never be copy-paste.

So before we plan a single detail, we sit down with you and listen. Together we shape a formation focus for your trip, built around the people you actually lead.

If you could ask God to answer one prayer for your student body this year, what would it be?

Whatever your answer is, we build the trip around it. It might be your group’s theme for the year. It might simply be something you are asking God to do for your students. Either way, it becomes the compass for every decision that follows.

  2. Step 2

    Training & Discipling

The trip begins long before the flight.

We equip your students and your leaders with our Discipleship curriculum, made to prepare your students to live out their life’s mission: knowing God and making Him known. This curriculum contains three parts.

    On the Trip

    Discipleship in Action

    1. GO Serve pastoral leaders

Every trip is facilitated by a GO Serve Pastoral Leader who is there for far more than logistics. They pour their heart and soul into loving your students. They minister to your students and walk with them as they grow into men and women who cross cultures with the Gospel.

    2. Real service

You cannot fake impact. That is why we only pair schools with communities that have real needs your students can actually meet. Read more about how we vet and choose ministry locations →

    3. Daily abide time

We want it to be said that those on our trip are those who “have been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13). Every day begins with a guided abide time devotional where students can reflect, talk with Jesus about their experiences, and live out the truths taught in the pre-trip training.

  4. Step 4

    Debrief & Your Next Step

Their life’s mission is just beginning.

Every trip includes a debrief where we process the highs and the lows. Each student walks away with one next step to take with them, so they can keep living their life’s mission, whether at home or overseas.

    1. The team debrief

On the last day of the trip, the team gathers to process the highs and lows together.

    2. The next step at home

In the journal, a guided walkthrough helps each student take that step and live it out once they are back home.

  5. Optional next step

    GO Serve Vision Internships

For students who want to go deeper.

Vision Internships are for students 18 and up who want to explore a calling to vocational missions. It is a next-level experience where students will be trained in lifestyle evangelism and missiology. Very different from a high school mission trip, GO Serve Vision Internships are designed for less hand-holding and more hands-on work, serving side by side with missionaries on the field.

The end of our roadmap is just the beginning:

Students who are blown away by the grace and goodness of God

and want to use

every second of their life to glorify Him.

“It was an unforgettable experience that has impacted all of our students, leading them to want to pursue future opportunities to volunteer in the mission field.”
