Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most from school leaders, church leaders, and parents.
Who is GO Serve mission trips for?
GO Serve designs mission trips for middle and high school students through Christian schools, homeschool co-ops, and churches. We also partner with universities on custom missions programs. Whether your group has 15 students or 150, every trip is planned around your group's size and goals.
How far in advance should we start planning?
Most groups we work with start the planning process 10–18 months before their expected trip to secure dates and finalize itineraries. Reach out early to schedule a free consultation, even if your travel dates are still flexible.
What's the difference between International, U.S., and Bring Your Own Partner trips?
International Partners connect your group with an overseas community. United States Partners let you serve close to home with a domestic ministry. Bring Your Own Partner lets you keep an existing ministry connection your school or church already has, while GO Serve handles all the logistics.
What does GO Serve take care of?
We handle airfare, ground transportation, food, lodging, discipleship training materials, registration, safety procedures, and even trip t-shirts. Our team works directly with your leaders on itinerary and logistics so the trip can be delegated to a trusted teacher or leader if desired.
How much does a mission trip cost, and how does fundraising work?
Cost depends on destination, group size, and trip length, so we build a specific proposal during your consultation. Each student missionary gets a customized giving page to share with friends and family, and we routinely see over half of our students raise the full cost of their trip.
How does payment and booking work?
Once your trip is planned, registration and payments are handled through our sister company GO Tours' booking platform, WeTravel, where students and families can register and give directly. GO Tours LLC is fully licensed as a Seller of Travel in California (CA SOT #2150239-50), Surety-Bonded, and a Member of the California Travel Restitution Fund.
What kind of discipleship training do students receive?
Our optional, in-depth training prepares students for their trip and beyond, including a workbook, daily devotionals, and team meeting lesson plans, so the spiritual formation starts long before the plane takes off.
How does GO Serve choose ministry partners?
We work directly with the existing local church or ministry in a community, since they are the faithful, ongoing presence there. We build exclusive, one-school-to-one-community partnerships rather than sending multiple groups to the same site, so your school can invest in a long-term relationship.
Is GO Serve affiliated with GO Tours?
Yes. GO Serve is the missions branch of GO Tours, which has facilitated Christian school and student travel for over 20 years. GO Serve is also a partner with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
How do we get started?
Schedule a free missions program consultation. We'll talk through your group's discipleship goals, timeline, and which partnership path fits best, then design a trip proposal together.
